UST Angelicum College believes that the backbone of the school’s system of education lies in the learning facilitators who are at the forefront of its implementation. Thus, the Office of the Team Principal and the Office of the Religious Affairs joined forces in giving the first of the series of formation programs for the probationary facilitators.

Last August 17, 2018, the orientation on Dominican Education was given by Mrs. Irene B. Gopez, one of the members of the Team – Principal and Coordinator of Campus Ministry. This was followed by the short recollection given by Rev. Don S. Go, O. P. to the probationary facilitators which highlighted their role in the evangelizing mission of the school.

During the orientation, Mrs. Gopez stressed the importance of teaching in the preaching ministry of the Dominicans, and discussed how the four pillars of Dominican life, namely Prayer, Study, Community and Service, could also be integrated in teaching. She further mentioned that while the concepts and theories being imparted by the facilitators to the learners are all important in their quest for truth, knowledge, and skills, these things must lead them to the ultimate Truth and acts of charity in order to have meaning.

During the recollection, Rev. Don emphasized that teachers need to journey with their students in their everyday experiences in order to guide and lead them to the truths of the gospel. More than what we teach, he emphasized that how we treat our students, and the way we provide them with the love and concern speak so much of the kind of evangelization we bring into the classroom.

During the orientation and the recollection, the positive attitude in embracing the UST Angelicum College system and accepting their roles as evangelizers in the school was very evident on the faces of the new facilitators. They are all hopeful and enthusiastic as they embark on a new school year as members of the Dominican family.
