To prepare the newly-elected set of Student Council Officers in assuming their leadership roles this Academic Year 2018-2019, the Guidance Counseling and Testing Department, in coordination with the Office of Student Affairs, Office of the Team Principal, as well as the Senior High School and the College Departments, held a two-day Leadership Training Seminar with the theme “Together We Can” on October 4 and 5, 2018 at the Function Hall of the Blessed Jordan of Saxony Building.

This was attended by the five councils, namely: Supreme Student Junior Government, Supreme Pupil Government, Supreme Student Senior Government, Level Representatives from the Home Study program Department, and the College Council. The school invited one of its successful alumni in the person of Mr.  Johun Joshua R. Santos, a 2004 graduate who is the current Senior Assistant to the Governor of Rotary Club of San Juan Del Monte City.

The activity proper opened at around 8:20 a.m. with Liyan Patrick Dimaandal, the Vice President of SSJG as the emcee. It started with a prayer led by one of the Student Council Officers, followed by the welcome remarks of the Head of Guidance Counseling and Testing Department, Ms. Wednesdee-Perpetual A. Acasio, and proceeded with the introduction of the resource speaker by Ms. Jocelyn C. Ortiz, the SHS Life Skills Adviser.

The talk and activity proper facilitated by Mr. Johun Santos were full of his leadership experiences and insights which gave inspiration to the young leaders to become successful leaders at school and in their respective communities.  With him, in the afternoon, were his colleagues in the Rotary Club namely, Atty. Irene Garcia and Ms. Aimee Rabago, who are also very successful graduates of Angelicum College. They enthusiastically shared their time and expertise to the Thomasian-Angelican leaders.

The second day was full of educational and fun-filled games and activities. In the afternoon, each council was tasked to conceptualize a specific project that they want to implement for this academic year. Guests in the persons of Ms. Delia Alcantara, Ms. Andrea Jusay, Ms. Ana Regino, Ms. Pleshette “Pleshy” Wee, the Rotary President of San Juan Del Monte, and Ms. Wens Acasio served as the evaluators of the project proposal that each council presented. After careful deliberation, Mr. Santos announced whose council project would be given a fund of 5,000 pesos sponsored by the Rotary Club of San Juan and it went to the council of Home Study Program Department. The Supreme Pupil Government also received a cash prize of 2,000 pesos for a good project proposal presented. It ended with the awarding Ceremony, wherein the Head of the Guidance Department thanked the resource speaker and the president of the Rotary Club-San Juan. Each student council officer was awarded a souvenir shirt for completing the two-day training. The experience was really significant and inspirational for the student leaders.
