Senior High School STEM Students Win Special Merit Award at National Science Engineering Fair 2019

Three SHS 2 STEM students were among the finalists at the 2nd National Science Engineering Fair 2019 Philippines held last February 2 and 3 at the Teachers Camp, Baguio City. The two-day research congress was a culminating activity and socialization of more than 400 teacher and student participants and more than 60 educational institutions from the different regions of the country. Julia Bea P. Zaño, Darlene Lei M. De Miguel, and Alexis Micaella T. Blanco from STEM 2B, together with their research adviser Mr. Jann Ernest R. Fesalbon and STEM Strand Adviser, Mr. Florben G. Mendoza, were the representatives from UST Angelicum College. These students received a Special Merit Award in Experimental Research under the SHS Category with their research titled “Effects of Ethanolic Mango (Magnifera indica) Peel Extract on the Reduction of Sodium Ions in the Blood of Male Albino Rats (Rattus norvegicus)”. Together with UST Angelicum College, the other recipients of the special merit award in research were Quezon City Science High School, Manila Science High School, and Pasig City Science High School.
