Entrepreneurial BehaviorFocuses on the importance of entrepreneurship as the most powerful economic force known to humankind. It introduces the entrepreneurial mindset within corporate entrepreneurship as an emerging strategy for fostering entrepreneurial innovations, and focuses on social entrepreneurship and the ethical perspective entrepreneurs need in developing a morally conscious approach to business.
MicroeconomicsA study of the theories and principles of microeconomics—how households, firms, and government behave and make economic decisions, and how they interact in specific markets. Covers the law of demand and supply, elasticity, price regulation, consumer choice, and market structures (competition, monopoly, monopolistic competition, and oligopoly).
Business Marketing CommunicationEquips students with strategic business communication approaches to create effective and relevant promotional campaigns needed in marketing, business, and corporate set-ups, and establishes the role of communication in building favorable interaction with different audiences, locally and internationally.
Opportunity SeekingIntroduces the entrepreneur and the entrepreneurial process from historical and research perspectives, focusing on the individual-opportunity nexus. Examines opportunities at domestic and international levels, macro and micro screening, project selection, and relating entrepreneurial competencies with project selection in the current business environment.
Market Research and Consumer BehaviorA study of consumer behavior as a tool for marketing decisions—the psychological core, decision-making process, and post-decision evaluation, along with consumer culture and welfare. Equips students with knowledge and skills in market research writing and the processes, methodologies, and tools used across business organizations.
Pricing and CostingOutlines the importance of price in a product or service business, covering strategic and tactical practices in budgeting, purchasing, controlling costs and profit, and psychological pricing techniques while maintaining strict quality standards through effective management.
Operations Management (TQM)Describes principles and concepts of production and operations management and total quality management. Students identify key features of material, use terminology, solve typical problems, recognize applications, and discuss relevance, managerial considerations, and advantages and limitations.
Introduction to Culinary ArtsInvolves theories and standard practices with laboratory and work experience to develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes in the foodservice industry—exploring safety, sanitation, basic cooking and baking techniques, and the culture of and behind food.
Financial ManagementIntroduction to financial management and finance: cash flows and financial analysis; interest rates, risk and the time value of money; valuing bonds and stocks; capital budgeting techniques and risks; cost of capital and leverage; managing working capital, cash and financing; corporate financial planning, restructuring, and international finance.
Human Resource ManagementA study of the management processes of the organization’s workforce—selection, training, assessment, and development of employees—while maintaining a culture of organizational leadership.
Entrepreneurial Marketing StrategiesDeals with the concepts, principles, processes, and implementation of a business plan, including the relevance of the course, key concepts of common and core competencies, and exploration of career opportunities.
Institutional Housekeeping ManagementCovers the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to prepare guest rooms, clean public areas and equipment, provide housekeeping and valet services, handle intoxicated guests, and launder linen and guest clothes for a range of accommodation services.
Hospitality ManagementProvides an overview of the hospitality and tourism industry—its growth and development, industry segments, trends, and current concerns—and introduces career opportunities and employability skills needed to succeed in specific hospitality fields.
Social EntrepreneurshipIntroduces the theory and practice of social entrepreneurship through interactive and collaborative activities. Working in teams on a social issue they care about, students learn systems thinking, an entrepreneurial mindset, and tools to start their own social venture or work in a social business.
Services MarketingExamines the need for marketing in service industries and how service marketing differs from product marketing, improving understanding of how service characteristics affect the marketing function. Students develop and implement marketing plans for service organizations.
FranchisingIntroduces franchising as a retail method where the franchisee invests a franchise fee for the right to promote goods, services, and processes to the public. Covers the integration of independent companies at different levels of production and distribution that permits more effective sales and advertising.
Introduction to BakingIntroduces the fundamentals of baking skills, standard practices, and theories through laboratories that develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes in business students.
Business Plan PreparationEngages students with the components needed in planning and opening a small business, guiding them through the important parts of a business plan—marketing, operations, personnel, and financial plans, among others.
Business Law and TaxationFocuses on the Law on Obligations and Contracts in the New Civil Code and the Negotiable Instruments Law (Promissory Note and Bills of Exchange). Provides general knowledge of laws related to business in the Philippines, credit instruments used in business transactions, and basic taxation.
International Business and TradeCovers international trade agreements, policies and restrictions, counter trade, world trade, tariffs, foreign exchange, and balance of payments—equipping students with knowledge of international trade, especially among ASEAN-member nations, in preparation for globalization.
Innovation ManagementIntroduces and explores innovation management—how to manage product innovation and development and build competitiveness through innovation—delivering new ideas and technologies as successful products to market in a sustainable way.
Asian CuisineDeals with basic knowledge and skills in the presentation of Asian cuisine, how these cuisines developed, and the techniques to prepare different dishes using specialized tools—covering fundamental concepts, skills, and techniques in basic cooking.
Business Plan Implementation I: Product Development and Market AnalysisFocuses on how innovators solve consumer problems by innovating new products or services. Identification of consumer needs and wants is the starting point, with an introduction to marketing analysis—taking the product idea to a prototype and a complete business plan.
Programs and Policies on Enterprise DevelopmentFocuses on the process of creating programs and policies by which new ventures are conceived, launched, and developed in the competitive market.
Strategic ManagementIntroduces the key concepts, tools, and principles of strategy formulation and competitive analysis, concerned with managerial decisions and actions that affect the performance and survival of business enterprises.
Corporate InternshipProvides professional work experience in an organizational environment. The internship extends the curriculum and provides meaningful experience related to the student’s area of concentration.
Business Plan Implementation IIEngages students in a hands-on experience implementing their business plan for the whole semester, evaluating their performance and strategies, and submitting financial reports.
E-CommerceParallels the study of basic marketing and explores key marketing concepts in today’s digital/Internet environment—balancing the “E” with sound marketing rather than being too narrowly or technically focused on e-commerce.
