The Thomasian Angelican community gathered on July 1, 2026 at the Blessed Diana d’ Andalo Hall, 7th Floor, JSB  for the first Institutional Plenary Session of Academic Year 2026-2027. Faculty, administrators, and non‑teaching staff were welcomed to the new academic year with a spirit of unity and shared mission.

The session began with the Dominican Prayer and the recitation of the College’s Vision‑Mission, grounding the community in faith and purpose. Prof. Eunice Mareth Q. Areola, PhD, HSG, Vice President for Academic Affairs, presented the Institutional and Academic Strategic Directions. Prof. Areola underscored the importance of collaboration, urging everyone to work together beyond divisions and to break down silos to build an integrated ecosystem where academic excellence, student support, infrastructure, innovation, and institutional prosperity thrive.

Next, Dr. Maria Urduja C. Galang, IBED Principal, highlighted the role of the A‑Board LMS in advancing digital learning, the compliance of SSHS standards, the features of the Matatag Curriculum aligned with national reforms, and the importance of PAASCU Accreditation in reinforcing quality assurance. She concluded by stressing how the Angelicum System integrates innovation, personalization, and internationalization to empower learners.

Lastly, Assoc. Prof. Pearliza M. Domalaon, MA, CHRP, Vice President for Administrative Affairs and Head of the Human Resources Department, presented the A‑LEAD Schedule for the upcoming days. She emphasized the relevance of these trainings in strengthening institutional capacity and the identified Performance Areas that will guide the College’s administrative and developmental priorities.

This plenary session marks a renewed commitment to holistic growth, innovation, and unity that ensures that UST Angelicum College continues to champion transformative education and inspire brighter tomorrows.

UST Angelicum College reaffirmed its commitment to learner safety, responsible discipline, and educator empowerment as faculty and employees participated in the A-LEAD seminar “𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐨 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐬: 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐮𝐭𝐲” on July 8, 2026, at the Blessed Diana d’ Andalo Hall, 7th Floor, JSB Building.

The program formally opened with welcoming remarks from 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐄𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐡 𝐐. 𝐀𝐫𝐞𝐨𝐥𝐚, 𝐏𝐡.𝐃., 𝐇𝐒𝐆, 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, who 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬' 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬. She emphasized that this duty extends beyond the classroom to co-curricular and extracurricular activities, including sports events, club meetings, journalism contests, and other school-sanctioned engagements. “True to our Thomasian Angelican values, we are called to correct with compassion, uphold legal boundaries, and remain vigilant in ensuring the safety and well-being of every learner entrusted to our care,” Prof. Areola shared.

The seminar featured 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐲. 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐡 𝐍𝐨𝐞𝐥 𝐌. 𝐄𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐚, 𝐩𝐨𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐚𝐬 “𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐲. 𝐄𝐫𝐚𝐩,” a distinguished legal professional, founding partner of Estrada & Aquino Law, and a recognized authority in education law. Through his expertise, 𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐧𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐬.

In his lecture titled,  “𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬: 𝐀 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐦𝐚𝐩 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬,”  Atty. Estrada highlighted the principle of in loco parentis, explaining that 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞 𝐚 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬. He stressed that 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, helping learners develop responsibility, accountability, and respect for established rules.

Atty. Estrada also discussed the legal framework governing school discipline, emphasizing that 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬, 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. Using actual case examples, he clarified teachers' authority, limitations in student discipline, and the importance of due process, empathy, and adherence to school policies in maintaining a safe and nurturing learning environment.

The seminar served as a significant professional development opportunity, equipping UST Angelicum educators with practical legal guidance, strengthening their understanding of their duty of care, and reinforcing confidence in the lawful performance of their responsibilities. 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲, 𝐢𝐭 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐬 𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝.

Recognizing that 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬, UST Angelicum College gathered its school administrators for a professional development A-LEAD session on Performance Management  led by 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥 𝐌. 𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐨𝐧, 𝐌𝐀, 𝐂𝐇𝐑𝐏, 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐝𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐀𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, on July 8, 2026, at Cuatro, 3rd Floor, St. Martin de Porres Building.

The session equipped school administrators with essential knowledge on performance planning, continuous feedback, employee evaluation, and performance reviews. Prof. Domalaon highlighted the importance of setting SMART goals, conducting objective appraisals, and avoiding common rating errors to ensure fairness and accountability in managing employees.

By enhancing their performance management competencies, administrators are better positioned to develop, motivate, and support employees, ultimately contributing to a more productive workforce and a stronger institution. The seminar underscored that effective people management is key to achieving the College's mission and sustaining excellence in service and education.

Guided by their responsibility to shape workplace culture and performance, UST Angelicum administrators continue to create spaces where employees flourish and contribute meaningfully to the College’s mission. Through intentional performance management, they strengthen not only today’s teams but also the enduring Thomasian Angelican community which is anchored in excellence, accountability, and service.

The seminar held on July 6, 2026 at the Aula Mayor, 3rd floor of St. Martin de Porres Building provided valuable insights into the implementation of the MATATAG Curriculum, emphasizing how the principles of Education 5.0 and the responsible integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) can enhance teaching and learning in today's rapidly evolving educational landscape. Participants explored practical approaches to fostering creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and digital literacy while ensuring that learners remain grounded in values and human-centered learning.

Prof. Marquina highlighted the vital role of educators in preparing students for an increasingly technology-driven future, stressing that AI should serve as a tool to support and not replace the teacher's mission of nurturing holistic development.

The Thomasian Angelican community convened at the Blessed Diana d’ Andalo Hall, 7th Floor, Blessed Jordan of Saxony Building on July 2, 2026 for the A-LEAD Seminar on Institutional Policies Reorientation led by Assoc. Prof. Pearliza M. Domalaon, MA, CHRP, Vice President for Administrative Affairs and Head of the Human Resources Department.

Prof. Domalaon provided a comprehensive walkthrough of the administrative and faculty manuals, beginning with the legal framework that anchors institutional governance. She emphasized the relevance of labor laws, social legislations, education laws, and institutional policies observed by UST Angelicum College, and highlighted the College’s proactive response to the DOLE’s wage increase announcement, ensuring fairness by maintaining the gap between minimum wage earners and licensed professional teachers.

Her discussion underscored the significance of organizational references such as the administrative manual, faculty manual, code of discipline, data privacy act, institutional memoranda, and circulars, while explaining amendments to policies affecting employees, including hours of work, duties and responsibilities, total rewards management, and employee development.

Prof. Domalaon also stressed the importance of proper grooming, respectable behavior, and dignified disposition, reminding everyone that as school ambassadors of UST Angelicum, Thomasian Angelican employees play a vital role in shaping the institution’s image. She encouraged the community to support the school’s  official social media pages by sharing and liking posts to amplify reach, while being conscientious about what they post on their personal accounts ensuring alignment with the values and reputation of the College.

The reorientation reinforced UST Angelicum College’s dedication to governance, professionalism, and digital responsibility by empowering every member of the community to embody excellence both offline and online.
